DESCRIPTION:Art & Fibre is an eclectic art exhibition featuring the works of Megan Small\, Valerie Richards and Sue Petrich. \nThis exhibition will feature a variety of mixed media abstract artwork and paintings\, as well as various spun and woven works. Art & Fibre will begin on Friday 5th April and officially launch at 6pm.\nCome down to the restaurant and join the artists for antipasto and a glass of wine during the opening hour. Call 4473 5583 to make a dinner reservation and enjoy a relaxed evening in the courtyard. \nThe Art & Fibre Exhibition will be on display at the cafe from Friday 5th April until Friday 3rd May. \nAbout the Artists… \nMEGAN SMALL\nMegan Small’s artwork speaks volumes to her unique perspective with elegant observations of form and texture. With 30 years of artistic endeavors\, her latest work is a captivating example of this artists ever evolving style and technique.\nOver the last year\, Megan has been working on a variance of pieces in a multiple of mediums\, from painting with clay and natural ochres\, the use of fire and heat on a multitude of mediums\, sculpture and monoprints – she has never been afraid of new and unique methods in order to achieve stunning\, emotive results.\nMany of Megan’s previous works has been exhibited not only here but in the US and she is excited to have her latest creations exhibiting at Art & Fibre in her hometown of Bodalla. \nVALERIE RICHARDS\nValerie Richards\, local artisan and lifelong knitter\, began her love affair with fibre around 35 years ago when her mother taught her to spin.\nMore recently in the last decade\, Valerie discovered her passion for lace knitting\, and loves tackling complicated and precise patterns. Valeire’s intricate pieces are recognizable\, with a unique flair marked by the addition of a bit of sparkle through incorporating various styles of beads.\nShe also works with dye yarn\, and has been known to weave\, felt\, quilt and sew in any spare time.\nValerie’s knitting and spinning have won her multiple awards nationally including “Best Exhibit Hand Spun Yarn 2009 and 2011” at Western Australia’s Toodyay Agricultural Show as well as many achievements at her local Eurobodalla Agricultural show in New South Wales.\nIn 2018 Valerie took part in Britspin\, an online charity event based in England and was named the Marathon Individual winner\, spinning 10\,862 meters in 4 days. \nSUE PETRICH\nLocal artisan Sue Petrich has enjoyed knitting since childhood and was excited when she got the opportunity to spin her own yarn\, now it is her first love.\nSue creates stunning 100% handmade original pieces in rich earthy tones\, and finds working from fleece to yarn is very relaxing and rewarding.
